Telephony microphones enable you to use the same microphone input for the computer (i.e. Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional, Dragon NaturallySpeaking Legal & Dragon Medical Practice Edition) and your telephone. Various solutions are available, including wireless.
Speakeasy Solutions Inc. recommends a telephony solution if you spend about as much time on the computer as you do on the telephone or wish the convenience of only one microphone for both rather than contending with a handset or telephone headset in addition to another microphone.
With its integrated Dictaphone for easy call recording, the UI 760 uses the Sound Clarity System™ to effectively filter out background noise and enhance your caller’s voice. As a result – you hear what’s being said and not the hubbub in the background. Simply switch between handset and headset, or phone and PC, to keep a reliable track of your conversations. And just in case you get interrupted, the microphone mute makes it easy to talk to the people around you without being recorded.
The UI 760 is used with the SH and CC Sennheiser headset series.

I use the DW Office here at our office. The main reason being that it was the only one available at the time. I love the light weight clip on ear mode of the headset. In a quiet environment the unit works quite well. Although I find if you leave the mic active for a period of time the computer will raise the gain on the microphone to a point where it will start to pick up quieter noises (like the sound of keyboard typing and the occasional chair squeak). I typically use the microphone in a “press to talk” mode (mic on when using Dragon, otherwise mic is off). In my work environment, this is normally the only way I can get anything done as I am pulled in many directions at once. If there is a radio, colleague talking, fan or AC unit, the quality can suffer greatly. It is still usable for the phone, but the sound signature has changed and Dragon can have a difficult time with transcribing.
With the DW Pro version of the solution, the boom microphone pretty much eliminates the extraneous noise issues. This is at the expense of having a heavier headband with microphone directly in front of your mouth. You lose comfort flexibility but gain in audio quality. I should say that the reduced noise cancellation abilities of the DW Office is not really its fault. The mic sits on the side of your face instead of directly in front. This means that the logic cannot tell exactly what is voice and what his background noise. But, with the shorter headset with fixed boom option of the DW Office, the headset variant can be significantly more stable than the ear hook variant.
In the end, it really comes down to user comfort & environmental noise levels. If you have a user that is going to use the headband version then a DW Pro with its improved noise cancellation should be considered. If you have a user that hates headsets, then the DW Office might be the one to go with.
I should mention that all three of the models use the same base. You can quickly and easily pair the headset to the base. Although, it is recommended that you create a new Dragon profile for the different headsets.
